The young lad got completely raged by drunk Teddy. About 4 hands in a row he makes plays and Teddy owns him. I don't like Teddy now. He is cocky, takes the piss, flirts with Julie who is clearly not impressed and full of it. He eventually knocks the young lad out who goes to play £1/£2 cash. Amazingly the old lady is still in. She triples up plenty of times but does eventually get knocked out. It gets to the final table bubble then. Aaron has managed to knock two people out in a three way all in (one of them being Nick sadly) was QQ vs TT vs A9. Aaron has the TT, Nick A9 short stacked and some other QQ. He now has well over 50k. Stack does begin to diminish once more as I don't get playable hands. At the bubble Aaron's table has 5 players, we have 6. I know nobody on his table apart from one old guy who I made fold earlier with AJs. My table is:
Me, Bill, Richard, Gloria, Julie, drunk Teddy in this order. George had somehow got knocked out after giving me 15k he seemed to go on a bit of a bad run.
Teddy is massive chip leader now on this table. Gloria and Julie fairly short stacked. Bill, Richard and I middle stacked on 25-35k each.
My stack continues to go down and I pick up A3 in the BB. Teddy just calls his SB and we see a T high flop. Check check. Turn is a second 7 to match the one on the flop. Teddy bets 4k. I call. River another low card but no straight or anything. Teddy bets 10k. I fold. If he had bet less I might have considered the A high hero call but he shows AA. Aces dodge count: 2.
So I'm back down to like 20k again and Gloria doubles which pisses me off. Teddy also basically chip dumps to Julie by opening to 6k (min raise now) and then folding to her push for like 10k more. What a tool bag. I actually think he might have folded to just to keep her in. He was calling her the love of his life etc. She was obviously going along with it but not enjoying it.
The other table had most of the chips and we were really looking at losing one from our table. Aaron was not having a great time of things and was getting grinded down when I went to chat to him between hands. Amazingly though someone from their table went out. T high flop. Not sure what preflop action was but someone gets it call in with QT and some nutjob calls with AQ and rivers a Q. Aaron looks at me in amazement and I take note.
Final table then. Only 9 are supposed to get paid but we all agree to chop £20 off top prize from £490 to £470 and a tenner off second from £290 to £280 to make up a £30 10th place prize and everyone gets paid. This was good news for me sat on 27k. Blinds have got to be like 2k/4k now with 200 ante. We have a long break and Aaron tells me about his table whilst I do the same for mine.
The positions are.
Seat 1: Richard. Pretty tight. Not much info but he seems to know what he is doing. Is however quite short stacked now, the shortest at the table on 20k or so.
Seat 2: Tight Bill. 30k or so. Nice guy and usually has the goods.
Seat 3: Drunk Teddy. Loose, things he is amazing but does sometimes make "ok plays". Has 100k at least.
Seat 4: Massive chip leader. Has to have 150k+ of the 547k chips.
Seat 5: Me. Fishy. 27.5k
Seat 6: Julie. Seems to be one of the best players here. Knows when it is optimum to shove and plays a shortish stack ok. Not sure on stack but more than me.
Seat 7: Gloria, a bit over 20k. Really not seen much of her play. Always all in or fold.
Seat 8: Aaron. Fish. Runs good. 35-40k.
Seat 9: Old man from earlier. Not too much info. He has about 50k
Seat 10: The guy who calls with AQ to make the FT. Has a strawberry floating tonne of chips. Maybe 80k.
Ok. I am happy that I have money at this point. I said before I came I was certainly due a good run in tournaments. I was also very pleased Aaron was still here. 1. I know someone at the final table and how they play. 2. He's my friend.
First couple of hands were nothings but as we sat down I may as well have stuck a sticker on my forehead saying "entering sick mode" because in 7 or so hands time I would be chip leader.
In the BB I pick up AA. Old man open shoves. I remember seeing him do this earlier actually rather than just raising a standard amount. I mean he has more chips than most people and is in early position. Folds round and obv I call. Aaron says "Tom you better have something" as I flip over my cards. I win and double to 55k. Next hand in SB AKs. I almost lol when old man shoves again for ~25k and then donk AQ caller in seat 10 flat calls. I push over the top for 55k and donk guy calls.
Old man has 55 (I should point out he isn't really, really old, maybe 50.)
Donk has KQ
I have AKs
Even if I lose to the 55 I still get a nice load of chips from KQ as long as there is no Q. Everyone misses until the river which is an Ace. SHIP. So my 55k gets doubled + 25k = 135k. I'm greeted with NH from most people especially Aaron who seems pleased as he believes we will be HU for final lol. Next hand I fold. Next hand I look down at rockets and have to control myself. I almost lol'd for real. I raised to 3BB which by now I think is actually 3k/6k and everyone folds. I show and everyone is like WTF OMFG.
I pick up QJs in first position next orbit. I raise it up to 15k. Gloria shoves for her like 25k or whatever and I call obv. She has AK. I flop a K high flush. Turn is K to give her outs by nothing on the river. Cheers LOL.
8 remain then and prizes start to go up nicely from now with me knocking both of them out.
I think donkey in seat 10 in next to go. No idea how but I didn't take him out. 7 left.
I forgot to mention the guy to my right with loads of chips tangled with donk boy earlier and then Teddy and managed to fold losing a fair few chips. He then doubled bill up to like 60k. Comes around to Richards's BB next. I raise with A9 knowing Richard will be all in now for not too much at all. Richard keeps his cards hidden. I miss everything so have A high. Bill flips over 72 which also misses everything. GG. Richard. 6 left and a 3rd knockout for me.
I get involved in two hands before the next person goes out. The first is my 99 raise from SB into Julie who shoves for something what I don't remember. 30k? I call and she has AA. Credit to her. My stack is still like 140k so all is cool.
The other hand is in the BB with QT. Teddy min raises as usual. I just call. Flop QTX. I check. Teddy c bets as usual. I triple his bet and again put on my "scared face" and spend most of the time looking away. He asks if I have a Q or a T because he "thinks I am full of it". I just keep silent. I was almost going to tell him I have a T, which I did but then this doesn't help if he has air. He eventually folds annoyed because he thinks I am bluffing. I show and everyone is still like WOWOWOW at my sickness.
Next out was the guy who startd as chip leader. The hand before this I was in the BB and he completed the SB. I now had him covered by a mile so I just grab one of my 20k stacks and move it into the middle. He folds. Can't even remember what I had.
Anyway he gets all in with Bill who obv has the goods like you would expect. We see AQ vs KJ and AQ takes it down. So now we have 5.
Bill: Doing quite nicely now with upwards of 70k.
Teddy: Not really played much, still on 100k+
Me: 150k?
Julie: 80k?
Aaron: 60k.
Aaron was getting frustrated. He had not played many hands despite his awesome range. One hand on the button I just call with 23s with the semi intention of dumping him 6k. He wins in the end with high card but I was prepared to just fold it away for him if he bet.
Aaron is next to fall sadly. Blinds are 4k/8k and he shoves OTB with an "Aaron hand". 64s. Quite rightly though he moves in with any two since it's still quite and ask for Bill to call. Bill thinks and eventually does call with A9. The flop is dry but the turn being 3c gives Aaron flush and straight outs. Sadly the river misses and Bill gets a second knockout.
4 left then and play slows a bit. Bill, Teddy, myself and Julie. Eventually I pick up JJ OTB. Bill now has 100k and I have 140k. Blinds 5k/10k. I make it 35k. Bill thinks for ages and calls. Flop J94. Bill ships. I lol call though he does show QT. He misses and I ship to 240k. Just three left. Teddy who for some reason still thinks he is chip leader with 150k, Me with 240k and Julie also with 150k or so.
Julie asks if we want to chop at all. I disagree. I thought she might want to just leave since it was nearly 2am but turns out she feels she might get outplayed.
I worked this out when we were offered a break and she took it for a cigarette!
3 handed blinds 8k/16k! I didn't play too aggressive here. I still find it hard not to throw away hands like J5. The trouble is if I do raise it has to be like 40k. I'm not in the mood to go out with this sort of hand so I fold. Teddy and Julie tangle lots. He keeps making sexual jokes and insults her at times which is really not nice. As much as I know I have a better chance vs Teddy HU I would rather it were Julie. Julie makes plenty of nice moves to which Teddy tanks then folds. Nick was sat behind Teddy and apparently one he thought for ages about calling with 89s LOL.
Teddy did somehow manage to get chips to flow towards him though by being aggressive and pushing a few times himself. He eventually took the lead and I sat in second.
Next big hand is A9s from me. I raise on the button to 45k. Teddy thinks for a bit then shoves. I think for ages then call. I think I have <200k here. Aaron said for him this was quite an easy call but I don't like to call all in with A9. I looked at the prize structure before I made it though. It was correct anyway. Teddy had QJ or something and I hit my Ace.
I basically crippled him completely and end up with 400k. Teddy left on like 40k and Julie 100k. Teddy shoves next hand. I call with QJ. He has 96. TY.
So HU me vs Julie with quite a big chip lead. Doesn't take long before she is all in. I have A4. Call. She has KJ. I win. WOOOOOOO.
So after 8 hours I pick up £470. I cash out at the cashier and my wallet is like WTF where all this come from, I cannot take it all. I drove Aaron and Nick home since they railed and then came back myself. It was like 3am but it was so worthit. I felt I was due a sick run. I ended up knock out like 6/9 at the final table too. Obv I had to run good, you need to if you are going to win a tournament but I think I played fine too. Much more confident in playing weaker hands. All in all a great evening. Not sure if you can put it in your first post tournament wins since it was live but I don't see why not. It was 73 runners £20+2 Freezeout at the Isle in Coventry and I cashed 1st for £470.
