Well the LPPL Area Final starts at 14:45 and I'm looking forward to a long day of poker with a field of 60 players 8-)

Going to have to bring my A-Game since the guy who made a final table of the WSOP 09 is going to be playing today.

I've registered too. By the way if you don't win a place you can also get in just by playing the $1.10 tournament at 8:00pm (no. 176283915). Everyone who plays the that tourney automatically wins a place.

A quick update for my recent play then.

I've played a few of the $5 Double Your Money (Turbo) games recently and I'm doing fairly well. I think I've cashed in 5/7 so far and it looks like it's going to be 6/8 soon. The one I went out in earlier was unlucky, I called with 66 for the flop to come 763. I got someone all in and he'd called with 54o. :fp:

Needless to say the board didn't pair to fill me up. But I'm doing okay with them. :)

Edit: 6/8, roll at $372.

Jamie Brown is back up to 525,000 now.

ElkY, Ivey, Eastgate and Harrington have all had bad days so far. ElkY and Ivey in particular, they've both lost roughly a million chips.

Well done Rex!

Ivey and Elky both lost 1 million in chips already!? It is still amazing just how good they are, though. Harrington too...can he make another final table?

Jamie Brown: 1,109,000
Dennis Phillips: 1,009,000

Here are your updates from Day 5 of the Main Event.

David Benyamine Survives All In

After a flop of ImageImageImage Sarne Lightman. checked and David Benyamine bet 38,000. Lightman check raised to 100,000 and Benyamine called. The turn was the Image and Lightman led out for 150,000. Benyamine then moved all in for 284,000. Lightman spent some time in the tank, but eventually gave up his hand. David Benyamine - 720,000 Sarne Lightman - 560,000

Scott Buller Cracks ElkY's Aces with Kings

Scott Buller was all in before the flop for 249,000 with ImageImage facing the ImageImage of Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. The flop came ImageImageImage keeping ElkY's aces safe, however, the Image on the turn gace Buller a set. ElkY would need to catch a ace or jack to win the pot.' The river brought the Image allowing Buller to double through ElkY to double up. Scott Buller - 518,000 Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier - 1,000,000

Ivey Falling

Elad Magidov fired 125,000 on the flop of ImageImageImage and Phil Ivey called. The turn brought the Image and both players checked. The river was the Image and Magidov fired 175,000. Ivey mucked, dropping to 660,000 after the hand. Magidov is up to 940,000 after showing that he filled up with ImageImage.

The Mischief of Kenny Tran

In between two hands, Kenny Tran stood up from his table and meandered around the room a tad. He stopped at Table 8 where Antonio Esfandiari was sitting with only his socks on, his sandals tucked safely under his chair. So he thought, anyways. While Esfandiari was distracted by a hand in progress, Tran made the Magician's sandals disappear. He walked across to the corner of the room to find a floor person doing some work and told him that the sandals belonged to the player who had just gotten knocked out. The floor person reluctantly grabbed the sandals and shot off across the room. About a minute later, Tournament Director Jimmy Sommerfield's voice came booming over the PA system: "The player who just busted at Table 18. You left your sandals behind. Table 18 bustout, come get your sandals." It looks like Esfandiari still isn't clued in to the fact that his footwear has gone AWOL. There is a break approaching though.

Eastgate Doubles Up

After a flop of ImageImageImage Peter Eastgate was all in with ImageImage against the ImageImage of Gabe Walls. Walls misses his flush draw and Eastgate doubles up. Peter Eastgate - 770,000 Gabe Walls - 1,300,000

Ivey Correctly Folds After Three-Betting Preflop

From Early position Mads Andersen raised to 28,000. Phil Ivey reraised to 88,000 from the button and Hamid Nourafchan moved all in. Both Anderson and Ivey fold and Nourafchan showed pocket aces. Phil Ivey - 270,000

Harrington Gets Hero Called

On a flop of ImageImageImage, Charlie Elias checked, Eric Cloutier checked, and then Dan Harrington fired 75,000. Elias made the call, but Cloutier folded. The turn brought the Image and both players checked. The river was the Image and Elias fired 40,000. Harrington raised to 390,000. Elias tanked and then made the call. Harrington showed only ImageImage for nine high. Elias showed ImageImage for the winning hand.

Action Dan Elimination

After a flop ImageImageImage of Eric Cloutier led out for 180,000 and Action Dan Harrington moved all in for 345,0000. Cloutier called. Eric Cloutier: ImageImage Dan Harrington: ImageImage The board ran out ImageImageImageImageImage eliminating Harrington from the tournament. Cloutier - 1,150,000

ElkY Doubles Up With Aces

After starting the day with 1.4 million in chips, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier had lost half his stack while at the feature table. However, after being dealt ImageImage he doubled through Tyler Patterson's ImageImage in an all in preflop pot. ElkY is back where he started with 1,400,000.

Claudio Baptista Eliminated by Phil Ivey

Claudio Baptista was all in before the flop with ImageImage against Phil Ivey's ImageImage. The board came ImageImageImageImageImage eliminating the last man from Brazil still left standing, Claudio Baptista. Phil Ivey - 830,000

Antonio Chippin' Up

Over at the secondary feature table Adam Sanders has just been eliminated by Antonio Esfandiari. We couldn't see how it went down but after a few raises they got it all in preflop. Esfandiari showed ImageImage and Sanders was a fair bit behind tabling ImageImage. The board ran out ImageImageImageImageImage. The Magician is now up to approximately 1,200,000 in chips.

Ivey Busts Verdonschot On the Last Hand

On the last hand at his table, Phil Ivey called Huub Verdonschot's all in for 286,000. Ivey held pocket eights and Verdonschot held ImageImage. The board ran out ImageImageImageImageImage and Ivey won the hand, eliminating Verdonschot in the process. Ivey will now bag up about 1.4 million chips for tomorrow.

Kenny Tran.

Imagine how epic it would be if Esfandiari made it to the final table. You just know there would be push up prop bets.
