Annoying to have a potentially great tournament ruined by poor structure and idiots stalling.

Edit: Just checked and the format is identical to the 2xTurbo tournaments.

Just don't understand why it has to be a Turbo in the first place....

Do these tournaments happen often or have I run bad in a one-off yet again?

Yes. I am doing absolutely everything within me to afford the whole buy-in myself - but I have talked to Luw about staking. I want to be there and get some REVENGE. Life is dealing me such junk, and this is just one of a few ways I can take it into my own hands - but just let it be understood that for me right now, right here - forty quid is a LOT of money. I sound like I'm on a massive downer - which I'm sorry if I sound that way - but life is a big downer right now. Lets go get some donk-cash.

There's no BlackJack thread so I'll post it here. £1375 Blackjack win. That is all.

Talking of the team game, how are we going to split up the winnings if we cash?

Do we want to just split everything equally between all five of us or go with some other way of sharing?

Split equally obv. It's a team event.

The latter, obv. It's a team event.

That's what I thought and I'm perfectly happy with that, but as the rules allow for you to split the money any way you wish I was wondering if everyone wanted to split it slightly differently, such as having 10% of your own action before splitting?

My thinking was that if four of us donk out in the first ten minutes and the last person goes on to win the tournament for say £500 then it'd would seem a tiny bit unfair for them to do all the work, win the tourney, and only receive 1.5 buy-ins profit.

In that example:
1) An even split would give £100, £100, £100, £100, £100 (everyone has £60 profit)
2) Winner gets 10% before sharing would split the money £140, £90, £90, £90, £90 (winner has £100 profit everyone else has £50 profit)

Again, i'm happy to split equally. I just think it's fairer for whoever cashes to get a tiny bit extra. If I get knocked out in the first five minutes then i'd feel a bit guilty about taking an equal share of someone else's prize when they spent 8hours playing good poker, i'd be more than happy taking £90 rather than £100 in the above example.

Just something that might be worth discussing.

Fair enough. I can't see anyone donking out early tbh. Last time we were all there for what, roughly 8 hours. You'd have to get it all in with Aces pre and lose, really.

See what everyone else thinks I guess. I think as long as we all agree something beforehand it doesn't matter if someone goes out early.

Looking at that, it seems fair enough to me. If we take all of the money though (obvz) we could just split that up, I suppose.

It works out that if we split it evenly then we have 20% of our own action and 20% of the other four players' action.
The method I proposed gives us each 28% of our own action and 18% of the other four players' action.

So you only lose 2% of the other players but gain 8% of yourself. If anything it's gives a bit more incentive to play well and make the cash, but if you don't then it's not really going to make much difference to the team winnings you receive.

It's probably best to see how many teams enter and how many places get paid before we decide. If everyone just wants to split evenly as it's simpler then that's fine with me, I just thought it was an option worth considering.

No I think it's a good one. I'd be up for that, personally.

I'm 11/18 in an $8 rebuy. Hopefully I can make the final table, but blinds are pretty steep and there are lots of aggressive players.

Edit: Finished 14th for $123. Was short stack for ages and finally got it in pre with TT v JTs but he hit both the straight and the flush.

Given the length I think I'll watch this at the weekend when grinding.

Probs not going to be able to grind this weekend, far too much to do. Monday is looking likely though.

Also, I have a friend who plays on Full Tilt from time to time. I recommended that he try PokerStars, except when I said it I actually said "Joker Stars", like when I refer to Full Tilt I always say "Full Donk". So, thinking I'm being serious, he goes to Google and actually types in "Joker Stars"

Oh and I am playing the following tournament tomorrow at G Casino Brighton:

£10 + £4 NL Hold'em. 90 min unlimited rebuys + top-up 1500 starting stack, top-up 3000

Same again. I'm 11th out of 18 in another $8 rebuy. The last one was a 1R1A though, this is normal and so has a bigger prize pool ($200 guaranteed for 18th, $5k for 1st). But it's 2x turbo so the blinds are insane...

Edit: Finished in 11th for $309. Literally nothing I could do as the blinds were so big I had no fold equity and finally got it in with K4 in the BB v the SB's 97o shove.
