Not having an HD console, I used to go into town after work every day for a week and play it in HMV. Fantastic title.

One of my favourite games in a long long time! The only thing to take in close recently has been
Fall of cybertron and battlefield 3 (MP).

I've been getting the urge to go through this again. I'm gonna start later, maybe try and use different weapons as I usually stick to the assault rifle, the heavy rifle and the sniper rifle.

DLC pistol! The portable laser is pretty awesome, too.

I didn't even know there was DLC weaponry. Well there you go. I started it and played up chapter 3 already. Finally got the upgrade weapons achievement. Don't even know how I missed it before. The LFE is crappy, but I'm using the multiple target laser a lot and it's nice enough.

Game is £5.97 from Amazon now for anyone that hasn't already played this.

I didn't know there was a DLC weapon pack either. At only 160 points I think this is an excuse to play it through again soon.

Just started this now.

It took me six attempts to beat the first boss (the one from the demo). With the first five attempts it took ages to do anything and then I'd just die after having spent ages shooting at it and doing almost no damage once I got it down to half health. Sixths attempt I did everything in a blink of an eye, I hardly gave the bot a chance to attack me and it was over almost as soon as it had started. Either I figured out the pattern or the game put itself on easy mode without telling me.

Overall I'm enjoying but it's just a little bit too fast paced for my liking (both in terms of gameplay and how it moves from one scene to next with nary a chance to catch breath).

Did you shoot his weak point for massive damage?

Heh. I did.

Core > transformation > limb (arm) > QTE > limb > core (turret) > limb (rifle -so as not to use up limited ammo on turrets) > core > repeat limb+core until dead bot.

On unsuccessful attempts I'd mess up after the QTE and get zapped by lasers while going for the weak points or slide into kerploding bomblets.

Started playing this morning.
Finished the game this morning.

3.42... Still, it was a blast to play and made a nice change to BLOPS.

Play it on Hard, the way it's meant to be played.

Pass. I'm finding it challenging enough on normal.

I'm used to the pace now and am really enjoying it. Sliding up to a mech and using melee on the mofo (and then putting it down for good with a couple of volleys from the shotgun) is so much fun.

Weapon upgrade method is interesting but not keen on losing upgrades (even ones gained during previous checkpoints!) if you die. But I guess it keeps it interesting and it isn't too harsh a punishment as it's not that difficult to get the weapon back to where it was pre death, though I think it would have been a good idea if dying didn't affect fully upgraded weapons.

It's not. If I can do it on Normal, anyone can. You just need to learn the most efficient ways to play it. You do need to get behind cover sometimes, but if you play it like a regular cover shooter you're missing the beauty of the game. It's about knowing when to come out into the open, when to use melee, when to use slo-mo to maximise your damage output.

Oh, and use the cigarette flick as a distraction.
