It could be a Gears of War RPG for the 360. The comic has different characters so maybe a game based on that? Or a spin off Gears of War. Gears was created due to Mikami and Resi 4 and now Mikami makes Gears of War

I'd totally love it, if it was something Gears of War related

Epic always said that Resident Evil 4 was a huge inspiration for them when they were making Gears of War 1.

I'm guessing this is likely to be the Face Melting News Cliff Bleszinsk was refering to?

Yep I'd say this being Platinum Games making a Gears of War Spin off is face melting news. It's too soon to have Gears of War 3 finishing off the trilogy. Have this side story for this year and 2011 finish the Gears trilogy.

A potential Fall 2011 release would give Epic even more time to work on Gears 3 to deliver another brilliant campaign - and most importantly - a near flaw-lass multiplayer experience.

If this turn out to be a Gears spin off, of some sort, what genre of game do you think it could be (i remember reading a rumor about the next Gears being more like Borderlands or something)

Well Cliffy B praised Borderlands, I think in GamesTM (or it could be Edge).

I doubt they could do an openworld game for GOW3 and reckon they will stick to the formula, finish off the trilogy, but have another side project that is open world.

Same here! After reading Suzz's post i'm fully in the mindset that it's going to be Gears of War related. Whatever it is i'm sure it'll be cool, but if its not Gears related..

If it was something to do with Gears, do you think it would be 360 exclusive? The general assumption is that Microsoft have the deal for the Gears trilogy but would it be an automatic exclusive, seeing it could be outside of the Gears trilogy?

Epic owns the Gears IP, so a spin-off could indeed be multiplatform.

According to the countdown on their website, as of now, there's another 17 hours to go.

Tut, tut Suzz.

We should have the info just after 6am.

Unless it's leaked.

I like it, very interesting. Love the visual style, I hope it translates from the teaser into the game. It's also worth pointing out that despite the fact no platforms have been announced, this was actually leaked in the SEGA / Sony memo a while back (posted by Suzzopher, all this speculation and you had unwittingly known what it was all along ;)), and stated it would be released for PS3 and PSP.

Vanquish and Aliens: CM
• Opportunity for PS3/PSP interoperability (see Eidos Batman, Army of Two, Assassin’s Creed for good examples).
• If we offer that SCEA would be really interested in having us at their booth next E3.
