tl;dr?

Nope. Read this OP (all of it!) if you want to post here.

Welcome

This is the PC Gaming Thread v3! This serves as a hub or general discussion and chit-chat thread for all things PC gaming. We hope you enjoy your stay! Please read this post before getting stuck in, and check back to it now and then, as it may be updated with new information or guidelines.

Posting Guidelines

While most people get by with common sense, there were a few nasty arguments in the last thread so I feel it may be best to make this explicit. This is a thread for people who like PC gaming and who like talking about PC gaming, or who are interested in discussing some aspect in PC gaming. While I do not of course expect everyone to agree with eachother all of the time, I would remind you that this is not a soapbox to ensure your opinions reach the maximum number of unsympathetic ears. As a general rule, if you do not have anything nice to say about PC gaming, please take your posting to a specialist PC vs Console thread or some other place where it is welcome. Attempts to push such opinions may well be considered trolling under the terms of the forum rules, so please don't do it!

As a second point, while we do not mind small, relevant discussions on the impact of hardware on PC gaming, hardware help and other forms of tech support are not considered on-topic for this thread. There is an ATF thread for hardware help, linked below.

What We Play

You can find the vast majority of us PC gamers on Steam. Steam is a shop, community event management system, chat program, anti-cheat client and server browser rolled into one all-knowing platform, maintained by Valve Software. It has amazing sales, is very stable and convinient, and has some of the least-obnoxious DLC in the industry. Download it, install it, join us.

Some of our all-time favourite games are Counter-Strike Source and Team Fortress 2 and you can find a game of one of those going almost every night amongst our regulars. We usually start playing at some point between 1930 and 2030. Beyond that, feel free to post in the thread or join Mumble and ask, as you can find players of almost every PC game amongst us.

So! Anyone who has Dead Island on PC might want to use this tool -
http://www.theplaywrite.com/tools-and-u ... dit-files/
it lets you adjust -
Set the shadow map resolution
Expand the Field of view
Added an option to enable overcast weather
Added an option to enable vertical syncronization
Added an option to disable dust
Added an option to disable the desaturation effect
Disabling bloom and weapon refraction
Fixed a potential memory leak in the file extraction rountine
and more.
