Like Russell Crowes Roman tattoo in Gladiator?

Yeah pretty much like that. But because my passion and degree is ancient history, rather than because Russell Crowe looked kind of good with one.

Thats cool. Thats what a tattoo should be like. Crowe did try to get rid of his with a rock though :p

A guy I have a thing with has a sleeve based around the griffin on the cover of Heroes of Might and Magic II :fp: it looks pretty cool though, it's had a lot added to it.

Yeah I've seen Beckham's, it's actually mainly his and a wrestler called Randy Orton who have changed my opinion on sleeves.

I'm not a fan of Ortons. Doesn't look right with his tribal on his back and the way the sleeve just finishes at the top.

Yeah it's more the way it looks with t-shirts on etc. His three big tribal tattoos that he got first aren't great, especially the one across his back.

But I like the faded look of his sleeves and for the most part (minus the tribals) I think they look good.

I love seeing Beckhams tattoo whilst wearing a white T-shirt. Looks great.

Orton though, having just looked properly I like too. Never noticed this though:

He's done a good job of making his tribal tattoos on his arms completely disappear, maybe that's what his ultimate aim is for his back one as well?

Yeah with his sleeve he's had all that writing kind of darkened so you can still read it and it actually goes well with the rest.

I love having a phrase or lyrics tattooed. I'm planning on getting some tattooed on my waist.

I don't have any, but don't really see peoples problems with them. They can look all kinds of awesome when done properly.
The one thing which I notice though, thanks to shows like Miami Ink, is that all the best tattoos are printed onto good looking people. Proof, if any is needed, that fat people shouldn't get tattoos. ;)

I do think that if you're going ahead with it, you should put some effort in, and get more than just some generic tribal shite. Brad Wilk(RATM bassist) is a good example.

Also, Red, SPQR would be strawberry floating awesome. Get it.

When I was on holiday last week I spotted this complete babe lying on the beach who had an awesome flower/vine tattoo which crept down her inside left leg. It was so freaking sexy.

One thing that is confusing me;

What if you got a sleeve and then started working out, would it get stretched if you got bigger?

Yeah they stretch with your skin, sometimes they can deform and look crap, like if a girl has a stomach tattoo and gets pregnant. I have a tribal on my arm and its just grown as Ive gone to the gym, hasnt deformed or anything.

I also have a bird/triforce thing on the back of my neck. Ill probably get a couple more but ill get them in places that are easily covered for work and what not.

It would be cool if the people who actually have tats posted up some pictures so we can all admire them laugh at them.
