I was at V as well. Would be quite cool if we saw their last ever gig.

I agree they were crap at V though. Something was not right and I don't think it was the "illness" that Liam and Noel had.

I knew I should have stayed in the Arena after Gaga to watch MGMT.

I was obsessed with Oasis during the What's the Story? era, but the last album of theirs that I bought was Be Here Now.

Still, at least I can say that 'I was there!'

Me too. Bought DM on day of release...bet there's not many on here that can say that.

Meh, they always hated each other. I forgot they existed forever ago.

For what it's worth, they're brothers and in no way is this the end of Oasis with the duo.

You honestly believe we'll go the next ten years without Liam & Noel on stage together?

I genuinely think this might be it now. I'll lose a lot of respect for Noel if he actually goes back.

I think it could go either way and I don't see any reason to lose respect for Noel if he ever does go back.

I'm very interested to see what Liam has to say next.

I think Oasis could still go on touring without Noel, as far as being Live on stage goes Liam is a LOT harder to replace than Noel is, he's the best front man for a generation. The flip side of course is that you can't replace Noel in the studio.

Listening to them as I play Motorstorm, it really is staggering to me the sheer volume of superb music they produced when they were most prolific, staggering. I'll probably get laughed at but for me nobody has produced such a volume of such quality since The Beatles.

The B-Sides as well, they put most bands to complete shame.

I just hope things end up more like this

Than this a song recorded after they had gone 'gooseberry fool' (facepalm(AND A strawberry floating B-SIDE))

I can. I also bought Shakermaker on release (missed Supersonic). They've been past their best for a while, but on their day they can still knock out a cracking song. Inevitable, but it's still a little sad. :(

Dearly beloved, it is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I say this to you this morning.

As of last Friday the 28th August, I have been forced to leave the Manchester rock'n'roll pop group Oasis.

The details are not important and of too great a number to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new.

I would like firstly to offer my apologies to them kids in Paris who'd paid money and waited all day to see us only to be let down AGAIN by the band. Apologies are probably not enough, I know, but I'm afraid it's all I've got.

While I'm on the subject, I'd like to say to the good people of V Festival that experienced the same thing. Again, I can only apologise - although I don't know why, it was nothing to do with me. I was match fit and ready to be brilliant. Alas, other people in the group weren't up to it.

In closing I would like to thank all the Oasis fans, all over the world. The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing (and I hate that word, but today is the one time I'll deem it appropriate). A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories.

Now, if you'll excuse me I have a family and a football team to indulge.

I'll see you somewhere down the road. It's been a strawberry floatin' pleasure.

Thanks very much.

Goodbye.

NG.

:(

I was also just looking through a list of B-Sides, if you're ever wondering take a look, that is why I love Oasis

It is kinda sad that my last memory of Oasis is going to be Liam singing Songbird to an indifferent Weston Park crowd.

Ngh, can't resist showing off - I saw them three times in '94, including one time before they had a single out, at the Joiners Arms in Southampton. They cut the gig short after a row between Liam and Noel, only played about six songs, then afterwards stood at the bar not talking to each other - me and my mate stood alternately chatting to both brothers for about half an hour. I remember there were some student types there, one of whom asked Liam "who is your favourite poet?" to which Liam snorted "Poetry?". I've still got a local listings paper that was signed by the whole band too.

I almost feel bad for pointing it out in this thread but I've got to be honest, I don't even like 'em either! Tried to get into them at the time but I could never warm to Liam's voice, the tunes never did anything for me, and the lyrics are atrocities.

Have I successfully alienated every single person reading this thread yet? Job's a good 'un!

A lot of people say that they were well past their best but I think their last two albums have been amazing. It's a different type of sound to their early stuff but I find myself listening to it much more.

Be here now was the last event that was free from the world of Internet spoilers and leaks.

It's countdown to release will never be replicated.

I love Oasis and miss them already.

Hasn't this happened before? They will just get back together again in a couple of years.

Also weren't they due to release an album soon?

Does this mean we'll never hear Stop The Clocks? :| It was meant to be the best song Noel had ever written. So he'll probably release it solo. Hmmm.
