I'll be surprised if anyone likes it tbh. I think it's great but the Live album which is also on Spotify is a bit better and probably easier to listen to. I probably would have changed my pick to that instead if I hadn't been chosen this week.

Nick Cave wrote:I really don't place much improtance on the Birthday Party. It's only music and I think our group as with any other group is totally dispensible. The sort of music we play is trash music. It's utter rubbish and for that very reason we're totally dispensible.

At least you gave it a go. :D

Did anyone like any of the songs?

I know there are a few other Nick Cave fans on the forum and I think even if you don't like his music you have to admire his talent and how he doesn't give a gooseberry fool about fame and fortune, he really does it purely for the music. I can't think of any other songwriter brave enough to go from something like this...

Gave the birthday party a full listen. Really not my cuppa, Seems a bit 'pointless' if you get me.

I'm changing my nomination to the Melvins' 'Nude With Boots' album, as it's back on Spotify.

I nominate 'Post Electric Blues' by Idlewild. Its the album they should have made after the remote part. With much more energy than the last 2 which went in different directions (Folk and foot-pedal rock, although I like them both) they seem to have rediscovered that spark that made them so great in the first place. The last track on the album, 'Take away the Night-time' is something ripped straight from 100 Broken Windows too.

If you fell out with them a few years ago then now is a good time to pick this up.

strawberry float I thought I'd posted in here. Listened to Junkyard last week and I felt it was a surprisingly apt name. Not really my sort of thing, but it's decent enough.

Just stuck on 6 Day Riot. They sound like a slightly less gooseberry fool version of Noah And The Whale.

Only just looked into this thread. Sorry I wasn't here earlier.

I love Junk Yard.

In fact I strawberry floating Love Junk Yard. Always have and always will.

It is such a sleazy sounding record.

Quick edit. That reminds me, I only have this on vinyl and it should really be the next one on my convert to digital list. Either that or Right Now! by Pussy Galore. God bless usb turntables.

First impressions are good. This is the exact type of thing I'd imagine Superking would listen to, so that's cool.
