I'm not sure actually. I know in the first game Rally cars were the fastest but that may have just been acceleration rather than top speed.

I'm fairly sure all vehicles have the same top speed. It wouldn't be fair, otherwise. You'd win everytime in the faster vehicles.

You're probably right but it is possible to still keep it fair and balanced with different top speeds as there are so many other variables which can even things out, such as the slower vehicles having shorter routes and not being slowed down by water or mud as much.

I thought they had different top speeds, I'm sure there is a seperate stat for speed and acceleration when you are picking a vehicle at any rate.

I was thinking about this a while ago, and I don't think it's necessary in Motorstorm. You can see how fast you're going, and if you're going faster than the others then you'll overtake them. It's one of the only racing games in which I reckon knowing how fast you're going in terms of measurable units is irrelevant, if you've tipped the opposition off a cliff/into a rock/tree then you're going faster than them 8-)

:shifty:

Yeah, Monday nights have been a bit problematic this year. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to a session soon, I'm sure my 10-12th place finishes would have made all the difference.

 No I hadn't, that's strawberry floating brilliant though. I have missed playing with you guys, I might be pretty gooseberry fool at the game but the banter is always fun if nothing else.

I'd agree with this.

I can't believe I never noticed the lack of a speedo though. Would be cool, but it's kind of abirtrary really and probably wouldn't be accurate anyway.

I agree to some extent, but you'd be surprised at how much of a help it is to know you're speed and then whether you need to boost or not. You'll get to know the top speed at different points of the track and then if boosting is worth it and it will also give you an indication to which vehicle is quickest round each track. I know the Bigger vehicles rule the roost in our sessions but that's just because we all like a bit of carnage. The smaller vehicles are quicker round most of the tracks.

I know more often than not you're boosting to catch up with the guy in front, but if you're already going top speed and boosting only gets you another 2 or 3 mph then I'd save my boost to another part of the track where it could get me 10 mph. I do this anyway, but a speedo would make it easier.

Sorry, went off into driving game geek mode there for a bit. Oi Oi smash him off a cliff etc etc.

I'd like them to at least try an in-car view. They make racing games soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much more immersive. I absolutely love PGR3 for popularising them (Mary - please go easy on me if I'm wrong on this :().

Maybe Shadow can sneak one in and see if it works. :shifty: Besides, I'm sure subtle changes in the gameplay could make one work anyway.

Yes, actually, I got it at launch with my PS3. In fact, I got it 2 days before the UK launch. I didn't think much of it.

In many ways, I liked the rubber band AI. It sounds dumb, but you drive an absolute blinder, only to get tanned on the last straight by 3 of them. So you just keep racing, again and again, getting sharper, driving to the absolute limits of your ability.
I don't play games as regularly as I used to so I doubt I'm as good now, but playing something like Motorstorm was great in that you just had to be gooseberry fool hot - nothing else but near perfection would do.
