I've always seen the series as extremely punishing, given its arcade approach. The physics are generally the main issue, with newcommers having to face a very steep learning curve before they can get the most out of it. Crashes are all too easy until the tracks are learnt inside out, whereas boosting becomes a real test of constant moderation. Too much applied and you explode, or simply mis-managed and you'll find yourself slowing to a crawl as the rest of the field flies by.

It really is a game all about momentum and the second that clicks it becomes a joy to play. Offline not so much...

So what's the story with this game then, Shadow? Will it be revealed at E3?

That's what wrecked it for me. I suppose that is some of the fun for other people. I presume it's supposed to read Motorstorm 3: The First Playable Code, or something to that effect and is not actually the sub-title.

Surely Sony wouldn't be so stupid as to use that as the Game title, Ie wouldn't they use a code name like they did (i think) with the Resistance 2 alpha?

As long as the Motorstorm has a grcade community I'll be interested, I wonder what direction they're taking with this one. I hope some of the tracks from the first 2 games make it into the 3rd installment. I've never played the PSP game, was it any good? Is the Icy environment interesting?

This had better look like that E3 2005 trailer or I'm going to be disappointed.

I was trying to think of new vehicle types and have come up with pretty much nothing, I think we'll need another one or two types to freshen things up a bit. Hovercraft maybe?

Are we thinking (guessing) release before Christmas this year?

Okay, I'll stop being unreasonable... This game had better have this gens racing-game must have: an in-car view!

Shadow?

Edit - and I agree with KK et al about the weight stuff and RC car handling. I liked the original but it did feel as though you were constantly just trying to stay balanced, rather than feeling confident and speed and concentrating on taking the best lines. A very odd twist on the modern racing game.

It's about perspective though. I've heard people moan about being flipped over by a small rock and more often than not the small rock turns out to be almost the size of the vehicle's tyres. I think MS:PR is pretty accurate with it's handling model, I think it feels right but it may just be me.

A speedo would be nice, please.

Yea, cause he's going to break his NDA to reveal something unannounced to us on GRcade! :fp:

I wouldn't use it much but I think it'd look great in Motorstorm. Imagine turning your head to look out the window and seeing all the carnage going on right beside you.

It'd be very hard to get right. As it is it can sometimes be hard to see some rocks and trees when it's just the bonnet on screen, so if you filled the screen with the car dashboard and steering wheel then it would be even more difficult to play, especially when you crash and the windscreen cracks and the bonnet pops up.

Suzz does it all the time.

As far as new vehicle types, I'd like to see tractors. They'd be pretty strawberry floating awesome zooming through the mud. Also cool, would be the ability to put trailers on the big rigs, but that's probably just a pipe dream. I'd also like to see more busses and have them in their own category seperate to the big rigs. You listening Shadow? ;)

An in-car view would be pointless in an arcade racer like this. I'd never use use it. How much development time would be wasted on creating interiors for every vehicle in the game when so few people would use it?

You just like the slow vehicles

I'd like to see Top Fuel Dragsters and Jet Powered Funny Cars:

They probably wouldn't be so good off-road but in a straight line they'd be faster than everything else.

All the vehicles in the game have the same top speed don't they? If they don't, there's very little in it. I'm sure they try to make all vehicle types equal so that no one has a crazy advantage with the only differences being acceleration, handline and cornering, so that puts drag racing cars gooseberry fool outta luck.

The cars need weight to them. Sick of just spinning over in a monster truck because I approached the corner at a slight awkward angle. It's so close to being a top tier arcade racer but for me it's not quite there yet
