Apparently it could've been done with just the headset but ME3 is supposed to be making more use of Kinect beyond the voice recognition stuff we saw at Microsoft's conference.

Head of EA games basically confirmed Kinect galaxy map in a GTTV interview.

Yay!

The voice recognition stuff for conversations is completely pointless, since you aren't even saying the same lines as the character. The Battle stuff could be useful, though.

Mass Effect is set to feature a four-player co-op online mode, according to various sources.

Eurogamer reports that the much-rumoured multiplayer feature will include "competitive elements" and "will not compromise" the single-player portion of the game.

A reliable development source has since informed CVG that the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer feature will be built around "original missions made for online", which will be totally unique from the solo campaign.

Our mole added there would "only be a handful" of co-op missions which have been created with the intention of being "played and played again".

Reports have suggested that the online offering will come in the form of a Horde-style mode, but our source was quick to play down the notion.

Bioware's Montreal studio is said to be behind the co-op side, and was seen to be recruiting for "multiplayer" staff last year.

"Mainstream penetration is a major goal for Mass Effect 3 and those high up feel online co-op is the answer they're looking for," our source said. "EA's keen to push the multiplayer side of the game to help spread word of mouth - so it's not just going to rehash stuff from the campaign. It's going all out."

Ergh.... just don't understand these Firefight/Horde/Spec Ops/Mercenaries modes. Fight wave after wave of enemies but you always lose? Don't. Get. It

Horde style multiplayer would be rubbish. When they mentioned "a handful of co-op missions designed to be played again and again" I thought it might be like the gang hideouts in RDR's freeroam. That'd be much cooler.

They should have just let people jump into your single player game as one of your team mates.

That would mean the entire game would have to be designed around co-op. Which would be utter, utter shite.

A ballache, but not shite. It's a squad based game anyway, so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch.

Pretty happy with them adding co-op seeing as it won't affect the single player and is a separate mode entirely. Could be something like the 'Special Ops' mode in MW2.

As much as I enjoy the combat in ME, I don't think it's refined enough yet to lend itself well into the multiplayer space, whether it's co-op or versus.

Let's face it, the combat in ME 1 & 2 has never been great especially when you compare it to the big hitters. Hell, I'm playing Infamous at the moment and the combat is much more refined. Combat is only one part of ME, not the majority

What a great idea. Maybe this will be the multiplayer game to finally pull me away from Metroid Prime 2!

I'm hoping it's similar to Uncharted 2's, that co-op mode was so well done.

Is boring-as-all-fuck better than racist?

An interesting discussion point.
