No it isn't. Even a lot of the people here who have said they prefer Leon concede that Seven is a better film.

Looks at the Poll results, hmm I think more people on here find Leon better than se7en.

Seven I've seen a couple of times, only once from start to finish.

Leon is one of those films I'll make time to watch no matter when it's on, and I've lost count the number of times I've seen it.

How about reading responses? Lots of people have said something like:

Seven is the better film but I prefer Leon.

Like the fact I prefer Godfather II over the first, but I can still concede the first is probably the better film. And just to clear that up beyond confusion:

Leon

Although I preferred Jean Reno as the cleaner in 'Nikita', a film substantially superior to either of the choices here.

Whilst I have seen neither film, could it not be the case that Seven is more technically proficient, whilst Leon is the more entertaining of the two movies?

This thread, and discovering that Luc Besson directed it, has made me want to see Nikita now.

Just because it's French, doesn't make it so.

I remember watching Léon and thinking;

"I want a paintball sniper rifle"

Anything that has a lasting impression like that must be great.

I remember watching Leon thinking;

"That Natalie Portman, I'd................"

And then feeling thoroughly ashamed of myself.

Apart from

"What's in the box?!?"

I can't remember anything memorable from Se7en.

Leon on the other hand has so many, from Natalie Portman walking down the hallway, passed her slaughtered family and knocking on Leon's door, to Jean Reno's John Wayne impression.

Excellent film

They are both tremendous films but Léon has the edge for me.

Se7en requires your attention all the way through, then again I think so does Leon. It's just Se7en is more subtle and complex, a real treat to someone who enjoys watching intently for 2 hours and follows the direction of the film throughout. There are very few 'stand out' moments in Se7en, but that's because it is an holistic triumph. However, as I said earlier and others have said since, the occasions where I want to watch such a holistic triumph are few compared to the occasions I want to relax and watch intriguing, well paced action films with a quirky plot and numerous superb scenes, which Leon is.
