The Best Kevin Smith film

Not sure if I'd agree with that.

It's probably his most err... mainstream (probably not the word I'm looking for here) film. One that perhaps people that aren't really a fan of his works will like the most and I can see why.

I wouldn't rate it as highly as some of his other films. From the View Askewniverse series I'd probably rate it my least favourite (yes, even behind Strike Back). I like the film but feel it's, I dunno, trying too hard to make some kind of serious message or point. Plus I really don't like Linda Fiorentino ('s character). In fact there was a time I'd say Dogma was my favourite Kevin Smith film, but over the years that's changed and I'm not totally sure why (other than Mallrats just being so good).

For reference I'd rate his films: Mallrats > Clerks > Clerks 2 > Chasing Amy > (Zack and Miri) > Strike Back > Dogma. Haven't actually seen Jersey Girl and only half of Cop Out (fell to sleep when it was on, because it was late and I was rather quite drunk).

Haven't watched most of them for a fair few years, but I used to think of them like this: Clerks>>>> Chasing Amy>>> Dogma> Mallrats> Clerks 2> Zack and Miri> Strike Back> Jersey Girl>>>>>>>>> Cop Out.

I have a feeling I wouldn't enjoy most of those films nearly as much now as I did originally. Except Cop Out. Which I still wouldn't enjoy at all.

And apparently Linda Fiorentino was a right cow on set, while Salma Hayek, Bafleck, Rock, Damon etc were all great. Still, she was in MiB so I can't dislike her too much

Red State sounds like it might be quite good though.

Saw Bladerunner again, it's on Iplayer BTW. As is Dangerous Days, which is a documentary about the making of Bladerunner.

Absolutely fascinating stuff. Didn't realise that Elden Tyrell was meant to be a replicant too  It's a must for all fans of the film. For my money it's the greatest sci-fi film ever made.

The Dangerous Days documentary on iPlayer is about an hour shorter than it should be. Shame as I can't think of anything that you could remove.

All those years you've championed the film and you don't know that?!?!?!?

Anyway... Watched this today.

They don't used to make comedy films like they do from the 80s and 90s.

Dangerous Days is fantastic, they even went into details on the futuristic parking meters!

The Wrestler - 9/10

gooseberry fool, I loved this despite the somewhat abrupt ending. That stripper, bloody hell, couldn't believe the part where the young dudes were heckling her for being old. Damn, she was pretty fine.

District 9 - 9/10

There's only a few films I've seen where I NEED a sequel and this is one

The Truman show - 9/10

Can't believe this is the first time I've seen it. Carey is a class act.

Bad mental.

It's gooseberry fool. Like something a 13 year old boy would make. A complete mess of a film.

I loved the first Crank film though. Which is why the second one gets such a low score because I was expecting something at least half as good as the first one.
