If you've never read any of the books the movie must seem quite impressive; compared to Anne Rice's novels, however, the movie is a dreadful travesty.

The original novel 'Interview With The Vampire' was a revelation to many - touching upon uneasy subjects like paedophilia and homosexuality as well as buckets of claret chucked liberally and violently around the place. In comparison, the film is a muted, sanitized triviality, whose biggest crime is to run with a pair of leading stars totally - and woefully - miscast. The original choice for the character of Lestat (played by Cruise in the actual movie) was Daniel Day-Lewis, who would have been absolutely spot-on for the part. Alas, he turned down the role. I have personally never forgiven him.

The Vampire Chronicles is a masterful take on the whole 'vampire' genre and remains a fine example of neo-gothic storytelling with a great modern twist. You can check out all of Anne Rice's vampire chronicles here: http://www.annerice.com/Bookshelf-Vampi ... icles.html

Paedophilia was briefly touched upon in the move with the kiss between Claudia and Louis.

Didn't Rice herself envisage Rutger Hauer as the ideal Lestat?

He's a shite vampire. He was crap in Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie and played a rubbish Kurt Barlow in the 'Salems Lot re-make.

I don't want to get everywhere in life. Police force/music industry will do. Please, feel free to enlighten me on how a film, business and music A level will help with those. Obviously music would to an extent, but learning theory about 19th century music and saying how the bass is holding the same note to make a pedal note won't.

Me and the singer/rhythm guitarist of my band are thinking of moving to London which will increase our chances of success. For the police force, the only reason i wouldn't get in for that is my fitness, but that, i can easily change.

Anyway, back on topic. The guy from buffy wouldn't suit the role in my opinion, too old.

My mate left uni to pursue a music career. They were really good too, the band's My Elvis Blackout, give them a listen. Still, the year after he was back at uni. Don't pin your hopes on something like this, seriously. Take the time and get as much education as you can whilst you still can.
