I don't understand why people think it's the best book. Aside from the Voldemort flashbacks and like the last 4 chapters nothing really happens with the end appearing out of nowhere.

Agreed. For me, the final book is the best.

It was clear when I was reading the last book that she'd had the movie in mind when she wrote it. So many scenes which would look great on the big screen.

I thought that too, but it didn't detract from the awesomeness of it all.

As for Phoenix, first time I saw it I thought it sucked, but having re-watched it a few times I think it's actually pretty decent.

Oh I wasn't criticising the 7th book. It's my favourite too.

Reason why they've changed the ending for the movie is...

because they didn't want 2 Hogwarts battles in successive movies, this was before they decided they could make more money by splitting the last movie in 2

Disappointed by the changes. I thought the 6th book was great as well.

Fifth book was pretty bad too. Waiting all that time for it to come along only to find Harry becomes an angsty little gooseberry fool and gets all full of himself.

Fourth book was the highlight of a completely overrated series.

This. I watch the films with my kids who are all big fans. I really enjoyed the books. I'd say i was disappointed rather than emotional.

Cuttooth is right. About 90% of the book is rubbish and meaningless.

None of the books were bad, and the series is not overrated. End of topic.
