Hello all. Long time no see!


Welcome to the Eighth edition of the GamesRadar/GRcade Writing Competition!


For those who are new to this competition, here's what you have to do:


1) Write a videogame review (any videogame - new or old).

And/Or

2) Write a videogame article (about anything you wish).

3) No word count limit.

4) Submit your piece to me via PM before the deadline.

5) Your piece will then be posted up in Creative Corner anonymously by me.

6) You may comment on your entry, but you must not make it obvious you wrote it. You can be disqualified from the competition if you do.

7) You may enter once in both categories - Review and Article.

8) You can submit as many pieces for feedback purposes in both categories, but you must choose which piece(s) you are entering for the final vote.

9) When the entry time is up (3 weeks), there will be a week of voting.

10) You must vote. Not voting will ensure you lose half of any vote points awarded to you.

11) You cannot vote for your own entry.

12) Finally, sit back and wait to see where your entry finishes on Results Day!

Voting period (1 week) : Saturday 20th of September - Thursday 25th of September '08

In a shocking unexpected move, GR LEGEND and previous GRWC entrant and winner Hero of Canton has kindly offered several prizes to be won for the winner and maybe even the runners-up to this competition, prizes which will possibly include promo copies of Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo DS games and "a few pieces of gaming merchandise too" whatever that might be!

Not only that, if your entry is of a high enough standard he'll be happy to offer the winner a slot writing for Press Start Online!

In light of this fantastic news, I'll be extending the deadline for entries by one week. Now there is absolutely no excuse to not enter this amazing competition!

Are there any restriction to writing styles? Can it be heavily opinionated or does it have to come from a third person standpoint? Or can we just go with whatever takes our fancy?

Yeah, I'd prefer a creative writing competition like we were treated to in GRWC7 but I'll be entering anyway. Anything to further distract me from job hunting can only be a good thing.
