I like both the ideas of of Top 5 for each genre and the Top 10 for each decade. I cans ee where problems would arise though. The earliest decades (pre 30's) are going to be very difficult for most members to choose films from, and some of the later decades (80's onwards) are going to split opinion like never before.

As for genre, like Poncho mentioned in the P voting thread, some films cross genres, how would we decide what goes where. I still think this is all very doable though.

IMO skip genres. Just move on to decades.

I remember a while back on the old GR film thread, people posted their top five of each decade just for fun and that was fine. I think it'd be a pretty good system but if you're going to compile a top 50 or 100 (which you should) then maybe you should give people ten choices per decade instead.

Decades sounds good, - the 80's vote will be a killer!

I think a genres one would be good if it was for clear genres like MUSICALS, or WESTERNS. When you get to fuzzy genres like action or thriller it would all fall down.

Maybe do genres as one off specials now and again. Starting with musicals, obviously...

P & Q updated. Glad Pulp Fiction won, one of my favorites

No we can't skip Q on an A-Z list

You all better hope that a good Q film is out before next years

I propose that all of GRcade bands together and makes a film with the specific intention of giving it a title starting with Q. Or alternatively, everyone makes their own film but has to name it with a Q so there's more to vote for.

What shall we call it?

We'll have a thread where people make nominations, then vote for the best.

My idea is this.

It shall be called Que? It'll be about a band of forumites currently stranded in Brazil. We get treated to a sweet-ass montage as they learn Spanish so they can interact with the locals only to learn that they all speak Portuguese. Eventually they go "strawberry float it" and hit the beaches and perv over the hot women. The End.

My idea is for a film called Quetzalcoatl, about a delusional man who believes he is the reincarnated spirit of the winged serpent God of Mexican folklore.

Is there going to be a numbers round or have you decided against that?

Yeah, there will be. Otherwise we'd never be able to nominate 2001 or 12 Angry Men.

You could nominate them under T.

That's the film I was asking for before it got to the 'T' nominations. Good to know there will be one though.

The titles begin with numbers though so I class them as such. There's enough films out there to justify a numbers round IMO.

They're the only two (and maybe 12 Monkeys) that I can see winning it. There are others, but not of that quality.
