It's a wonderful Life: 9/10

One of those films I always wanted to see and I have always heard about it (even mentioned on Friends), but never gotten around to watching it. It does live up to the hype and I really enjoyed watching it. The end made me feel all good inside

PLAY | Persona 3 Reloaded [3h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S3, HiJack S1, Red Dwarf S4, Dexter S2
RACE | Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

Nobody watch the remake this weekend, don't let it ruin the original if you haven't seen it or know the story.

Too late :shifty:

Watched Die Hard. Anyone who doesn't think it's a christmas film can kiss my arse. Also a damn fine film in its own right, I'd forgotten how brilliantly written it was, the opening sets the rest of the film up magnificently, and I love how the Nakatomi Building slowly gets more and more destroyed until by the end of the film it's in tatters. Amazing film, a classic.

 Glad you liked it, it's my favourite Christmas movie (even including Die Hard) and it's good to see people who hadn't seen it enjoy it so much.

... oh, that's alright then.

Christmas eve should be great, with these two movies being watched back to back (my wife has hinted that she's finally bought me It's a Wonderful Life :D )

It's a Wonderful Life 10/10

It really is perfect - James Stewart is wonderful in it, and Donna Reed

I'd forgotten about the bit at the beginning when George is a boy where the Chemist who's just lost his son hits him

This movie + snowing outside = perfect christmas eve.

Just finished my two remaining Xmas movies.

Miracle on 34th Street: 8/10

I have seen the remake of this before but never the original. I enjoyed it for what it was and liked the fact that it was left open as to whether Kris Kringle was actually Santa or not.

It's a Wonderful Life: 9/10

I was going to give this 7/10 most of the way through but the ending even warmed up my cold old heart. Clarence is a dude, Bailey is a lucky man and the whole thing was just lovely (and I don't use that word very often!).

I know I'm not part of this but I'd like to suggest you watch The Lives of Others.
It's just £4.38 at Amazon and worth every penny.
I guarantee you won't regret watching it.

Need to catch up with this. I wont be watching the christmas films but I did see Die Hard over the holiday. Has an amazing first 30 mins where everything is set up, probably the greatest in any action film but then it just plods a bit and I hate all the stuff with the black cop. Not the biggest action film geek so wont bother expanding as it would be the same critisism for almost any action film.

Slowly catching up...

Just watched Alien. It's been so long since I last saw it that I briefly forgot Yaphet Kotto was in it. What a legend. Anyway, the movie is great, obviously. The pacing of it is perfect, slow and careful, and the set design still looks great today, even if some of the computer effects are a little dated. Fantastic cast, too. The only negative that I can see, as mentioned by Banjo earlier in the thread, is that at the end you see too much of the alien - it worked much better when all we were given were a few shadowy glimpses.

4 more films to watch now and then I'm up to date. Think I'll go for The Quiet Man next.

You should get back in the game Mitch Yost.

Just popping in to say I watched Die Hard a week or so ago.

10/10. Best action film there ever was.

The Square - 7/10

I really had no idea what this was going to be about and thus no preconceptions, decent though. The character of Ray was very well acted and although it really piles on the misery, it's a great watch. I felt it started losing it towards the end though; when the two leads just seem to separate and do their own thing. The ending was quite unexpected too!
