IMO it's fine. It's a fun game and you're being way too anal about it. It's like £2 get over it.

Here is a scenario:

I register for all events and don't bother to show up to any of them. Miraculously people bust at hyperspeed and I go deep in most of the events, and just pip somebody else to POTY. Is that fair considering I won't have played a hand in the entire series? Obviously not.

I've made a pretty clear ruling about this now so hopefully that's the end of the issue and we can all look forward to the main event.

I have no problem with people showing up late or not showing up at all, at the end of the day it's only going to benefit me in the game. My point is that I'm not sure it's fair to change rules midway through.

If you register but don't play then you shouldn't get any points.

You'd benefit from being able to get their chips and their buy-in has boosted the prize money, but in terms of POTY points you are probably not benefiting. If you play well but get unlucky early on then they have gained an advantage and will have earned more points by not playing. Even if you run deep you might only gain 1 or 2 more points than the person who didn't even show up.

I think that's a problem with the points structure too but bleh, I've already posted about that subject.

Personally I think if they've paid...thats it. Perhaps player points should only go to those who cashed, with a 'played' point for playing otherwise?

Those who paid, showed up on time, played good poker for a bit, but then get unlucky and knocked out in 9th, don't receive any points. So why should points be given to those that pay entry but for whatever reason don't show up?

The buy-in is only $3 and very few of us care about that sort of money, but if I knew I couldn't make a tournament I wouldn't register anyway and hope to score points. Not saying anyone has done it on purpose, but if you make that an acceptable strategy then it could become a problem in the future and is against the spirit of the game. We don't want every tournament to start with half the field sitting out.

I disagreed with point deduction at first but put so eloquently I agree. Our field sizes aren't large enough to blind people out before the points arrive. No show = no points.

I don't think I'll be able to make the ME tonight. Working until 8 and won't be home until 9. :(

How many are going to be able to actually play? I'll play, but I'd like there to be at least 10 or so!
