Please anyone who is considering playing - please do, poker is a great game, and we only got one new player last year so we really want more to make this a grand yearly event!

I'll probably play too. Once you've put the tournament fee in, how does it work from there? Would I just get some chips and go from there or would I need to put more cash in?

Its a tournament - so the 'buy-in' pays for a stack of chips (which is a one time buy in), and once they are gone, they're gone. If you survive long enough you'll earn a cash reward and if you get hold of every chip on the table - you win. No added on buy-ins/rebuys or anything. The only additional free is a 10% fee charged by the site, so a $3 tournament is actually $3.30 with the 30 cents going to the site, and the $3.00 going straight into the prize-pool.

Anyone who wants to play - post here when you have registered you account with pokerstars and I will PM you the registration details.

I'm definitely going to be playing in this, but unfortunately I work Wednesday evenings so will only be able to make the games on Sunday. Annoyingly, the two games I'm pretty useless at are both on a Sunday, whereas the games I can actually play are the Wednesday ones. :lol:

At least I can play in the ME though.

You should give the other games a shot too. Seriously, nobody in the thread has any real experience playing Stud and the rest of the mix games. One or two people have dabbled but that's really it.

I don't even know the rules to Stud.

Yeah I'm planning on doing so, didn't make that clear. Stud should be fun as I know the basics, 8-game will be... interesting, however.

If you want just stick to the NL hold'em games (Thats the Heads Up game, the NL Hold Em $3 game, the Main Event as well) - Omaha, Stud are different games which you can look up (Studs probably the easier to learn, its similar to Five Card Draw) - 8-game is a gruelling mix of eight poker disciplines which you can play for a laugh but might be a massive step first time out.

I am interested, but is there a way for me to check that I can play beforehand without paying any money (in case I can't play and the funds are sitting in my account doing nothing)? I've been having problems with blocked ports for Steam and Quake Live at my university's halls of residence so I'm worried that the same will happen here.

After signing up and all that jazz you will find play money options for all game types! It's completely free. Throw your user name here and we'll get you in the home games groups - simples.

Also I have updated the threat with rules to each individual game within 8-game and therefore each game that is available to play within the series.
