Yes. The episodes average at about 70 minutes each, with some being slightly shorter.

I finished watching it the other night, it was great stuff.

One thing that's been puzzling me, in the trailer, there's the line, "black man's gonna rule the world," but in the episode he says white man. Why bother changing that? :|

I had no idea each episode was longer than an hour. :o That's why I could never watch two episodes a night, or even one..

I think I enjoyed the first episode more than the rest. Can't explain why, i just never really got into it like I did with Band of Brothers where by the end it felt like I'd gone through a grim experience that was really moving. I think it's the directing, BOB is more dramatic, and also how each episode of Generation Kill is like A Day in the Life. It's just down to earth reality, and while the Wire is too, it's also filmic. It was hard to believe that guy previously from Malcolm in the Middle, Captain America actually exists, really cartoonish.

But it's obviously still great!

As soon as he shaved that mustache off and I realised who he was, I couldn't take him seriously at all.

Just watched ep3.

I'm so angry. Angry with this war. The incompetence at the high levels of the US Army. It's a strawberry floating disgrace. :(

Going through it this now. Ep 1 was a little slow, but ep 2 is awesome :D

I adore this series, encapsulates brilliantly what television is capable of. I found myself comparing it with The Hurt Locker, in that The Hurt Locker is definitely more cinematic in nature (if you've seen it then you know what I'm talking about), whereas this has a more documentary approach, something that television has always managed to convey excellently. There were time when I was expecting it to blow up into something massive action extravaganza that cinema has taught me to anticipate. but it instead continued with the more realistic approach. It really is made for television, like The Wire, had it been released as a film it would've been a completely different beast.

I have a massive soft spot for the singalongs they'd have in the humvees.

Yeah same. Also the odd rantings about why the war is being fought by Humvee driver. Can't think of his name...Ziggy?

Just watched ep4. Amazing. I think I'm liking this more than The Wire.

Gonna have to see Hurt Locker based on Banjo's recommendation now. I've been comparing it Jarhead while watching.

The Hurt Locker has a more War Film setup to it, and is really nothing more than a series of set-pieces strung together. It's still great, as those set-pieces are phenomenal and expertly captured.

I liked The Hurt Locker but I would have liked it more if it had been less Hollywood and more like Generation Kill.

True, there are some aspects of it that drag, particularly the inbetween bits that try and create a storyline. When you get down to it though, the bomb disposal scenes were amazingly tense watching, and the scene with Ralph Fiennes was superb. I do prefer Generation Kill though.

It was, but it was one of those where the episodes were only up until the next aired.

Episode 6 was amazing. Probably the best TV I've seen in years.
