Am i right to assume that you can add bots to the MP games like in 2? Can you also play horde with friendly bots?

No idea, I haven't even tried anything other than SP yet. Sorry.

Two final questions Andrew, sorry  . Are you much of a Gears of War fan yourself? If so from what you've played of the Single Player (granted the best bits may be saved till the end) have you been left feeling "Wow this is awesome, really is Gears of War at it's best" or "Meh it looks cool but the campaign just seems to be lacking something"?

Mint, there's going to be plenty of you in the co-op action.

I'm not a gears 'fan', but I don't hate it either. I'm halfway through ACT 3 and it's alright. Not jaw-dropping in any sense (and they re-use on-rail driving sections again - that are also as unbalanced as before), standard Gears fare so far. They've clearly tried a lot harder with the Narrative (you'll learn a good bit about the history of the main characters as you play), but gameplay wise it's very much the same as before. So more 'meh' than 'wow' (for me anyways). TBH, I'm not even playing it from that perspective (for enjoyment), I'm looking for the collectables on my first playthrough, replaying sections for optimal strategies, looking for ways to create better screenshot scenarios etc etc. So I'm purely playing it from a guide writers perspective.

Some multiplayer maps:

These look ace!

Edit: vids are taken from the unfinished leaked code apparently, which explains the green blocks and stuff.

I always said it and will always say it. GEARS OF WAR 1 was the best out of all 3. Hands down. The multiplayer was so fun that I still play it till this day.

''Saying it's because I was controlling you and making you sad when actually I just asked you to wear some trousers''

I preferred Gears 1 to 2 and fear that Gears 3 will carry on in the second games vein.

Gears 2 - aside from the lag being worse and now game-breaking, for me - lost the fluid elegance of the original's gameplay. They made the classic sequel mistake of trying to bolt on loads of new features and it just didn't feel right.

Stick grenades were so annoying too. Such a cheap way of killing/dying as there wasn't much you could do about them if they were placed well. :fp:

People need to stop judging Gears 2 on the fail deathmatch when it had an awesome single player campaign and the greatest multiplayer mode of all time, Horde.

I preferred Gears 2 overall to Gears 1. Also thanks to what I've played in the beta, I think Gears 3 will be better than them both. It'll probably even be better than BF3/MW3.

I can't see how it won't be.

As long as the single player campaign is still fun with 4 player co-op, the sheer number of extra features in the multiplayer already surpass its predecessors.

The new Carmine is being voiced by the old spice ad guy

EDIT: No wait, he's the voice of the general background COGs, not Carmine.

Gears 3 to have 3D:-

Upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War 3 includes the option to play in stereoscopic 3D, Epic Games has announced.

"We asked, could we do it?" executive producer Rod Fergusson told Eurogamer at a Gears of War 3 event in London.

"It felt like something we wanted to have. It was a feature we didn't want to be deficient in. When you look at Gears 1, it was what people used to demo HD at the time.

"It's still fledgling technology. It's still a niche feature. But it was something we could support, so we felt, why not?"

A handful of Xbox 360 games have launched under the "stereoscopic 3D" banner, including Crytek's Crysis 2 and Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops.

But the Xbox 360 does not, currently, output in 3D to the same degree as the PlayStation 3. That is, it does not output in full, HDMI 1.4 stereoscopic 3D in the 1280x1470 twin 720p framebuffer configuration.

Instead, the Xbox 360 renders using 3D techniques based on the principle of two distinct images crammed into one 720p framebuffer. This is how Gears of War 3's 3D effect works.

It also forces the game to run at a lower resolution. "It's a little bit jaggier in certain areas," Fergusson said. But the difference is "not huge". "Instead of 720p you're at five something," he explained.

Where's everyone buying their copy from and which edition? £60 seems steep for LE considering they do go down quick. Am I better off with just the normal edition?
