I often waste my first shot and get slaughtered, I'm terrible with shotguns

With so many people running around with the shotguns though, I am favouring the Retro Lancer - it tears them up so easily!

If I'm online I'll send you message Hugo.

I find the Retro over powered it is stronger then Shotgun when in close battles which is absolutely retarded.

Shotgun is only useful when you either manage to sneak up on someone or overwhelm them with numbers. In a straight up fight people shouldn't be getting close enough to kill you with it.

Well I think that's a crock of gooseberry fool myself. With lack of radar it's actually pretty difficult to stop people getting close, and in this game there tends to be very little long range combat IMO, largely because of the way damage is dealt/recovered and the cover system, long range combat just doesn't pay so running in at close range is really the only effective thing you can do. Most of the maps seem to be designed largely around close quarters combat.

There are so many things I can point to in this game that are really bad, it does have this thing about it where you still want to go back to playing it but IMO there are a lot of flaws, I don't know if issues like the shotgun are down to connection quality or what but some things are down to basic game design like setting out spawn points. Spawning right behind an enemy is not good.. well it's good if i happens in your favour, but no fun when the boot is on the other foot. It seems to happen pretty regularly in this. Another thing I hate is not auto picking up ammo from fallen foes. I don't really want to spend ages looking at which gun is on the floor when I'm in need of ammo, having to do it manually in rather inconvenient.

I remember someone saying in one thread about Halo combat being a bit inconsistant but I'd argue this has the most inconsistant weapon combat of any game I have ever played. How is it that Someone can blow me to pieces with a single shotgun blast but if I do it at the same range it won't even down them? How is it that one time I can chainsaw some guy that is charging me with the retro rifle but another time it happens I get stuck like a pig?

Had an amazing game earlier, was last man standing with a retro lancer, they had 5 lives left, managed to get them down to their last 2 players before dying. Was awesome 8-)

Just stumbled across this. I thought i would share the find here with anyone who is interested in trying the beta.

http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=789309

Apparently, you might be sent a free beta code starting 8th of May. Which gives you a week to enjoy the beta with a freind of your choice. Unfortunately United Kingdom citizens are limited to one per customer, instead of several per customer like the United States.

Just managed to come from about 7 lives down (was last 4 of us against something like 6 respawns left for the other team), in an epic conclusion it ended up 2 on 2 and I took them both down.

Have to say I did come across someone who was suspiciously hard to kill, who could roll up to people and shotgun them even while being shot at. Thats definitely not how its supposed to be.

In a different match I also came across someone who had the wrong teams skin on (he looked like a Locust but was on the Human team), thats very naughty. Hope they can cut this gooseberry fool out before release.

Thanks dude. Can we all play together?

Would be good to have the old team assembled on this?
