I think I recieved a non-new title when their last sale came around, due to street fighter 4 coming a bit messed up.

some of the non-sealed titles could easily be games that were taken out of their cases instore then sent to the website/hq because they didn't sell, and in this mess some preowned stock came back?

Gamestation also send out these battered looking boxes with a game seal on it as 'new'. I've received Gundam 2 and Virtua tennis 2009 from them in really bad condition, discs are usually okay (scratch free) though, but only after I've wiped the finger prints off

I emailed them once about this and they said something about it being new but was surplus stock from the shops and if I wanted I could send it back for a full refund, since they didnt have any sealed copies of the game.

This is a disgrace. I won't be buying from Game / Gameplay anytime soon. If this happened to me I'd be going to Watchdog.

A number of years ago I bought a Nintendo Gamecube from GAME in Dunfermline. In my excitement I made my way back to the car while my parents were still shopping and opened the box to feel the controller. However, the entire console was covered in finger marks and there was dirt all over the controller. I took it back to the store and got a replacement, being told that someone must have put this console "in the wrong place".

Shadow wrote:Totally unrelated, but it saves making a new thread. I heard a manager at GAME near me today telling a customer he'd just been shown the new 3DS and that it had a 3D screen that you didn't need glasses for. He said that it looked like a DS Lite, but the screen were projecting out holograms.

What the strawberry float is wrong with these people?

That's nothing, our regional manager sent an e-mail around to stores telling us the "DS3D" ( :fp: ) would be out late 2010 - somehow gaining knowledge beyond Nintendo's official stance that never stated anything other than March 2011 as a release target.

Yet some people still wonder why I never take any notice of "inside information" passed down within Game.

Havent used GAME and Gameplay online in ages, but will avoid them until they are exposed and hopefully get their act together.

If you're getting sale games or older games then there might be an issue - Recent releases don't seem to be a problem at all (I've had over 20 games fro mthem this year and every single one was in perfect condition and no marks on discs)

and GAME wonder why they've become a joke. :fp:

With service like this, you have to wonder why publishers like EA are stepping so softly around retail when it comes to things like digital distribution.

I'm expecting 2 games from the GAME sale today (after paying EXTRA to have them delivered in time or the weekend :fp: :x  ) and i'll let you know how it goes. I expect nothing but factory sealed games when I buy unless it's clearly stated.

EDIT: WTF?! I just went in to my order history and i've found that even though I bought the latest professor layton at £16.98 from the sale, its now listed for £13 in the same strawberry floating sale!!! :x

Still, it's not on to be selling shoddy copies as new if that is what's happening. I suppose this kind of thing matters more to us obsessive collectors than most, but all game stores would do well not to piss off their core customer base with these shenanigans.

I went into GAME wanting to buy a PS3 the other week.

Firstly they didn't have any of the 250gb or 120gb slims, or 60gb phats in stock. :fp: As an alternative they said they haid some non-new 120s in that I could have cheaper. Apparently, these were models that people had gotten in phone deals and bought them straight in to trade for cash. Fair enough I thought, seemed a pretty good deal. The packaging was marked but they said thats because it was technically second hand they had to check it worked etc. So I got this 120gb home, and low and behold the 'never before used' PS3 had dust in the vents, the label on the back of the controller was worn away and when I switched it on, there was even someone's account details still on there! :fp:

Someone on here - i forget who - mentioned that GAME was stopping distinguishing between preowned and new intentionally?

The Preowned prices certainly backs this theory up

I got £113 on a GAME card so I am gonna use it up!!
