That's probably true.

Stop trolling, you can put them on your queue so it would not matter!

Seriously, the gooseberry fool I have to read on here...

I own a PS3. I paid monies for it, and everything. I'm entitled to crack a joke about download speed on the machine I own. And paid for. With my money.
Trolling? Reading gooseberry fool? Talk about pot calling the kettle black.

As soon as I get the net back I'll go for:
* Infamous*
* Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty

On my UK account, then, on my US account:
LittleBigPlanet
* Wipeout HD/Fury

Any disc based ones you own I'd download, then get down to your local game retailer and trade them in before the price of them plummets to practically nothing in a day or so. At the least you can then put them towards something else you want. Or just take cold hard cash for it. :D

I bought Infamous for a fiver second hand before xmas still not played it though so would get jack back for it. As for the others Quest for Booty was DLC when I got it, LBP got traded eons ago and have no need to play it again, Wipeout was DLC and never finished it not my cup of tea at all. So I download LBP so I have it even though I dont want to play it and get a game I have never heard of.
Considering I have not missed PSN as I haven't played a game since January I guess I should not grumble, but it feels cheap considering this was a very high security issue and most of the titles are 2 years old or more. Like a lot here I think giving PSN credits would have been better so you get to choose something useful.

I would imagine the ID protection is something useful given the security implications.

Yeah, no.

They didn't give them, they were stolen. Legally I think they would have got away with an apology, however since the playstation is such a huge brand if they did not make such a gesture the casuals would have flocked to MS. Sony have had a completely messed up generation, but it will make them stronger next gen imo. Nintendo have got it right in a way and have the most risk free, high profit strategy. You have to admire how they have gone from the Gamecube to now, it's amazing and nearly as big as Sonys own rise to power.

what I really need is the id protection before any of this stuff.

They have already sorted it for the US and they're leaving it longer than I'm happy with here.

[edit] Jiggles says they they are soon to announce it. Get a wriggle on then Sony!

Also, they really need to sort the hotmail situation so my son can get back online at all, let alone download stuff.

@ anyone who already has the games. Nick Chaplin, communications head of Sony Europe, has issued a blog comment. Unfortunately, it can be boiled down to "nope.avi" rather easily.

Here are the details of the ID protection, Jiggles dream guide has got it right again:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011- ... protection

Sony is offering PlayStation Network members in the UK, France, Spain, Italy and Germany 12 months of free identity theft protection following last month's security breach.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, users will be able to take advantage of the following services through ID protection specialists Affinion International Limited:

Personal information protection

Monitoring and alerting service
Personal information protection software
Help/assistance and guidance

Dedicated helpline
Victim of fraud support
Financial protection

Insurance that covers the expenses incurred in identity restoration following identity fraud
Card monitoring and alerting service
Details of how to get in touch with Affinion will be issued shortly.

Sony is still working on a solution for those who don't live in the aforementioned

End of the month, it'll get hammered because of the free stuff and go down again.

Aye, I can imagine it will

Might give it a week to cool down after the initial surge.

Affinion International. Is that the same Affinion International that was linked to the Leisure Time "scam", or more accurately, dubious practices until as recently as 2010?

I feel safer already.

So is this per account or is it per Playstation? I.e. can my flatmate and I get 2 different games each?

In any case it's a pretty good deal. I already have LBP and Wipeout (on disc), but if 4 games are on the cards then I'd be tempted to get Wipeout again just to play discless.
Otherwise Infamous and Ratchet look decent.

Good offer really, but I would have preferred a wider choice of PSN games perhaps. DOn't want to be too nitpicky though. Free is free.
