Exciting stuff.

Amusingly, opening it up to off-topic has narrowed the vote! :D

I think we should put it in GGC as well. More of my supporters are there.

Just promise to stay out of OT. Thats Gandalf's realm.

Damn straight it is! ;)

You know what the scariest thing is about the bluehats? You'll have to wait for my exclusive expose of them to find out.

I voted yes, but isn't he essentially a Mod anyway? As far as I can see it, blue and green are pretty interchangeable when it comes to having a voice as to how this place is run, the single notable exception being the actual buttons themselves.

EDIT: That's not necessarily a moan, by the way. I don't have a problem with any of the bluehats.

I've obviously been very vocal in the past about Eighthours, but since the near-closure of GR I've become almost philisophical about the whole affair (GR that is) - and to a certain extent I've found myself pretty much at the point of ending my long term feud with Hero and Eight. The new forum was much more than I could have expected in terms of its similarities to GR, which I didnt think was going to be possible, hence my previous worried moans on GR when the whole GRCade thing arrived, and also why I wasn't feeling the love before the move and why I thought I wouldnt come here.

However, the move has been seemless and quite frankly a massive relief. Its a new start, and although I still am not fond of the guy, for now I'm willing to put issues aside with Eighthours and indeed Hero - because quite frankly we're lucky to have a home at all.

So with that in mind, you will hopefully understand why I've voted no this time around.

At the moment we have an awful lot of mods with little to moderate, and I don't know if we need another one, especially one like Eighthours who tends to get stuck in heavily to the moderating affair. I dunno if thats the approach thats needed at the moment. Also theres a bit of feeling of 'if its not broke, why fix it?' sort of going on.

However, if a mod was to step down, I think Eight should go in.

Are you sure you have more support in GGC?

Seriously though - polls open to abuse. Just go decide it among yourselves in the staff room.

I voted no. I think Mike is a brilliant member and was a brilliant mod but I preferred his posts after he gave up the responsiblity as he seemed liberated. I also think, despite thinking he would do a good job, that it would be too divisive at too early a stage for this forum. I don't think another mod is needed at the moment either, we should just keep the status quo.

If he gets it then I'll be happy, but the divisions it could cause would be annoying! Good luck Mike.

At what point do we just agree on the vote and make a decision? It might be wise to say something like 'Poll closes 4pm today - vote before then!'

Assuming Eight wins, by whatever margin - and if the forumites are half as smart as I think they are, he will win - Steve or Garth can just pin Eight's badge to his lapel and we can all get on with other things. In an ideal world.

Frankly, I didn't want a poll at all. That's the trouble with democracy - so bloody inconvenient.

It finishes on the 9th September. A little too long IMO.

Yeah, I saw that date after I posted. :fp: Quite ridiculous. This needs to be quick and decisive.
