Mario Galaxy 2 sounds outstanding.

I said this in the dedicated thread, but I'm really impressed that Nintendo have made enough out of the sequel to warrant these scores.

Annoyingly means I will need to buy another Wii.

But sometimes...a 7 can be...better than an 8.

It's definitely an interesting game. Oddly, it's probably an 8 in terms of mechanics, but it's repetition, poor pacing and poor writing that let the side down.

Like I said elsewhere, I think it'll divide the forum. No-one will hate it, some will be disappointed, some will be elated. Weirdly, it's probably the aspects I was least sure about where it truly excels.

What did they say about 3D Dot Game Heroes? The early reports were saying that it's very much a retro game and doesn't try to be anything else, which I can see as a reason to give it a [6] if that doesn't sit well with the reviewer.

I don't understand.

Surely a 10 is a 10 whatever machine it's on

Not without HD and achievements/trophies.

Such a shame people's bias blinds them to quality.

Or even if it does.

Edge never seem to be overly impressed by games that copy game structures so exactly as this appears to...but then even a 6 is a good score.

Gunstar Heroes got a 6 I seem to remember.

As for those saying a Alan Wake can't be a classic because it got a 7, thats clearly nonsense too...

Doom, Tie Fighter, Alone in the Dark, Chrono Trigger, Unreal Tournament, Tony Hawk, System Shock 2, The Sims...all scored 7 in Edge.

It would have to be substantially better than the first then. Which doesn't look the case.

Yeah just checked, Halo 2 got a 9. Still a point too high in my humble opinion.

Surely not if you include the online component? That was goddamn revoltionary in 2004.

I didn't think much of the single player back in the day, but when I went back to it on PC last year I really enjoyed it, so I'm wondering if it was actually a great game that was just ruined by being overhyped.

I'm not sure if any changes were made to the PC campaign from the Xbox one, I don't think there was anything major though.

I think because I was already playing Halo 1 online ,via the tunnelling Software, the impact of the Online component of Halo2 was reduced for me somewhat.

I really didn't get on with the SP either. Loved the SP in Halo 1 and Halo 3,but didn't like ODST that much either, so appreciate it's probably just down to taste.

I didn't really go on to explain. The point really is a vast audience won't get to play it because so many people who play a lot of games chose the 360 or PS3. It's like having a great film solely on Betamax.

Are you serious?

I think he just means to say it's a shame it's not multiplatform, and whilst the Wii has undoubtedly the biggest Usebase, Alot of them will be Mr and Mrs Smith who only play Wii sports once in a while when the Johnson's come over.

It's just a shame there will be a lot of people who won't get the opportunity to play the game.

A better analogy would be a great song that could only be played on an Ipod. Sure it has the most customers, but anybody with a Sony/Zune/other MP3 player will miss out.

Of course the above can be reversed and said for any console exclusive game.

I get the impression he wouldn't say the same for a great exclusive on Xbox 360 or PS3.

But you can just rip the song off the iPod and convert it to an mp3 :|
