Half of the picture on the TV screen was live, the other half was a still image. There was a youtube video showing how this works posted somewhere in this thread. I'll have a look for you.

I can't watch that video on this crap computer. So if half the TV screen was live, he still had to get three of the numbers right?

I thought it was pretty entertaining. Regardless of whether it could all be staged or not, watching what you're told is a clueless bystander have a gun shoved in his face during a fake robbery is tense stuff. At least it was for me, along with the train track thing (admittedly it was a very lame and slow train, although it was more the build up before that which I found engrossing). I do tend to find the little bits he does while building up to the big event at the end are often the most entertaining parts of the show.
