Derren Brown: The Events

Derren Brown's got a new miniseries starting with a 10 minute trick on channel 4 at 10:30 wednesday What he's actually going to do has been kept all hush-hush with Brown claiming if it gets out in advance he won't be able to do it. His show on friday will show how he did the trick if all goes well.
Reports claim that in wednesday's trick he's going to attempt to predict the lottery numbers which are being drawn at that exact time over on BBC1. Too late to buy a ticket by then unfortunately.

Everyone knows the lottery is filmed weeks before it airs like Eastenders, duh.

Anyone been to any of the websites of companies in the background of the latest add? They take you to various fake sites and then to a competition page. Thought I'd enter, although I'm pretty sure the question can't be as easy as it seems.

I like a good magic trick so I'm interested to see what exactly he does. If he just writes down the numbers 10mins before the draw and then shows them afterwards that is rubbish and it's obvious how he does it. If however he actually reveals the numbers 10 minutes before the draw that is going to be quite impressive as I'm fairly sure the lottery doesn't have a 10 minute delay.

Seems very easy to do, there's a live delay on the BBC feed and all he has to do is be in the venue and make sure his show is actually 'more' live than the BBC's.

I remember the horse racing trick....
Very clever and you almost believed it.
I suspect with this Lottery one there will be some sort of very intricate trick involved.

Does this mean in the lottery the week after there will be like 2 million winners of the jackpot and they all get a fiver?

No
It's the lottery for this Wednesday. He will predict the results 10 mins before the draw. No one will be able to buy a ticket.

I love Derren Brown and can't wait to see the new shows. I'd like to think there's a little more to it than just using the 10 minute delay to his advantage, that just seems too... simple.

In the advert, there are signs on the bus that say 'it will be you' obviously pointing to the lottery. He also talks about making secure systems vulnerable if you know where to look. There are also a set of 6 numbers in the advert. I know what my numbers will be on Wednesday. Even if it doesn't work those numbers have as good a chance as any.
