DS3 for me as it is nice and symmetrical and I don't have to buy a charger.

No, we are and quality varies widely in that case. Should humans be added to the OP? ;)

These were the better saturn pads imo.

I'd like the 360 pad to be a bit larger, to be honest.

Actually, I'd like the PS3 and Wii controllers to be larger too. Big hands, y'see.

There is not one perfect controller out there.

I like the PS3's analogue sticks as they are sensitive, their face buttons are awesome as are the R1/ L1 buttons. The DS3 triggers are no great, but can be improved a lot with the Gioteck Triggers.
The Xbox 360 triggers are the best, but the d-pad and face buttons are not so great and the bumper buttons are too clicky
The Wii's 'A' button is the best button
The Dreamcast pad was pretty bad
The original Xbox controller was a joke
The Controller S was decent, but the 360 one beats it
The original playstation pad was great, but missed analogue sticks
The N64 pad was comfortable, but not great for all genres
The previous pads were a little too simple to be considered imo.

Depends on the style of game being played. The SNES pad, or the Classic Controller, is my favourite for 2D games. For 3D, it's the 360, Wavebird or Wiimote and Nunchuck combo. The N64 pad was very comfortable for analogue games, but not perfect. The Dreamcast pad was just awful (they should have stuck with something similar to the small Saturn pad), but I agree that the screen was a novel idea. A wire coming out the bottom of the controller? Not a good idea.

I hate the Dualshock. It's like the wonderfully ergonomic SNES controller contracted elephantiasis. Those analogue sticks are an absolute joke for most games.

The 360 pad is perfect for what I play and I never feel like I miss a decent dpad.

The Dreamcast controller was also awesome for its time.

Megaman 9 was pretty rough when I played the demo; it really needed a good D-Pad. The Wiimote on its side was so much better.

That's the only example that I've played, though.

The 360 and Gamecube controller are both part of the same family. Each has two non-symmetrical analogue sticks. But the Gamecube controller is a contender for the most comfortable ever.

Wow. Didn't think anyone would vote for the DS3.

1. Antiquated design
2. Ergonomics are far worse than the 360's
3. Too small
4. Too light
5. Feels cheap
6. Left analogue stick is in the wrong place
7. 'Triggers' are absolutely GOD AWFUL

Erm.... Apart from that it's great. :D

1. Don't care.
2. It feels comfortable to me, maybe i'm just used to it after ~15 years.
3. No it's not.
4. Surely being light is a good thing? If sixaxis had rumble then it would be better than the DS3 imo as it is lighter.
5. Feels fine to me.
6. If your hands are a weird shape then yes, but if you have normal hands then a symmetrical controller is better.
7. Triggers aren't as good as the 360's but they are still perfectly useable. I never have my fingers slip or anything like that.

Toss up between the 360 and the Gamecube pads.

Both have crap d-pads funnily enough.

Great poll.

Xbox 360. Gamecube pad is great but feels a bit cheap and plasticy when compared.
