I noticed all three are considerably thinner than Watchmen. I take it 100-200 pages is the standard length for most TPBs?

Like Magneto, I'm back!

I've been busy too. After finishing off Watchmen I've read all of the Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told, bar the ones from longer books I want to read, the whole of the first Captain America Omnibus (incredible), Batman: Year One (short, but great), Astonishing X-Men TPB 3 (weird, but good), Ultimate Spider-Man TPB 1 (ace) and The Ultimates vols. 1 & 2 (also ace. "HULK STRAIGHT!!!!"). I've now made a start on the first Punisher MAX trade, which is also proving entertaining, not to mention disturbing.

I've decided to catch up with Captain America through the trades before I read the comics I'm collecting. The Omnibus was absolutely brilliant, and I don't want to spoil anything.

Yey!

For liking Captain America!
Astonish X-men - have you read 1 and 2? 4 is complete amazing. "What other lies have you told"

I've got Immortal Iron Fist volume 2, Ultimate X-Men Ultimate Collection volume 1, and The Ultimates volume 1 in my Amazon basket. Should I go for it and order them?

Is the Ultimates volume the shiny hardcover version?

Amazon don't have it in stock from what I can see. What's wrong with just the paperback version?

Nothing. The hardbacks 1-12 though and the paper backs 1-6.

Both Ultimates and Ultimates 2, IMO, read better as 12 issue runs, rather than being split into two.

I checked Forbidden Planet and the site says it's currently unavailable. :(

Looks like I'll need to stick with the paperback version.

Edit: I did find it available from here. I know it says it's Forbidden Planet but I don't know what the site is like compared to the other FP sites.

The Losers - Double Down
Less focused then the first trade, but still some great moments. The mystery of Max deepens. Did like the old agent brought on to investigate the situation from the Agency angle. How bad-ass is Cougar?

Marvel Dec Solicits

I can't believe they're still trying to cover up the ending to Secret Invasion

The story behind Cougar is great. What's scary about the Losers is that some of the things in it have elements of truth in them.

Its well written enough that it stands as it could be true - sign of a good bit of fiction, our world viewed from an alternative angle.

Q. Which of the 5 trades is the best IYO?

Couple of interesting things on there - Incognito new one from Brubaker & the Buesik's follow up to Marvels (all be it without Alex Ross).

I noticed The Stand in the list. When does that start? If it has already what issues have been released?

Looks like I'm off to Forbidden Planet again! If only I'd noticed it when I was in last week.
