For those that haven't watched that episode, they reviewed the smart, decided it was fairly rubbish with awful boot space, awful gear changes and awful power delivery, and that if you wanted a 2 seater open top sports car you should buy a Mazda MX-5, like you have been for the last 14 years.

So, FishFingers, looks like you've made the wrong choice. Thanks for the video evidence at the beginning of your clip.

I disagree with Clarksons view that all small european cars are cool. I just dont see it myself, same for the smart roadster (its ok but not sub zero by any means)

5/10 It simply never worked. I loved the look of it, the performance, and the sound of it, but it was forever breaking down. If I could have paid 10k to have a normal VW Engine + electronics put inside it, I would have done.

Slightly let down by the fact that it costs an absolute fortune to run (I average 18Mpg and thats driving very sensibly) it's nice looking, comfortable and Quick.

Nice looking, but a little on the slow side. Perfect for me to get into London on, but will look to upgrade in September before the tests change. can't argue with 98 Mpg though. Absolutely terrifying.

add to that most convertible Porkers and ferraris

ill give you the aston and the merc, but the bmw and audi just dont sit right with me. I personally think they are botched versions of the hard tops. That Beamer looks pants (imo)

edit: besides 4 seater convertibles look stupid. As clarkson once said you cannot sit in the back of a 4 seater convertible without looking like hitler!

The New one, fair enough. I dont really like any of the new beemers, but My mates dad has a khaki coloured last version M3 and it's absolutely gorgeous.

In my experience people who drive cars with the BMW name on them are not very friendly to me when I overtake them in my 80bhp beast. They think they've got something to prove and often come back at me and overtake me back.

I have no Birds Eye decals yet.

I think my problem with the convertibles is that they werent designed that way. They release the hard top then later they lop the roof off and ruin the handling. Ill be honest i prefer the hard top Aston's too!

Its certainly not the most exciting car - it looks quite nice but nothing special and its a good solid, reliable performer but nothing more. The C-Student as you say. That said its only my second car, I've only been driving for 18 months so as far as realistic cars for me to be driving go its as good as it gets.

It really annoys me when they lop the roof off and take away all of the rear legroom too. Why bother with an A4 cabriolet when you could get the hard top and have room for real people who aren't made of sticks in the back?

Exactly the 2+2 cabriolets are a waste of time, even cardboard cut outs would struggle for leg room. Apparantly they only do it for insurance grouping, so it doesnt get considered a 2 seater sports car!

My first car was a corsa (old style sadly) so i know what they are like. Ideal first cars!

Mah 1990 BMW 318i.

I'd been trying to find an E30 shape BMW for ages, and this one came along on Ebay and got no bids, despite starting at £500 and only having 71 thousand on the clock.. I emailed the seller, he was only 30 miles away, I went down to look and came back with it. It's pretty much perfect, the ony thing I want to do is put some original BMW cross spoke alloys on it. After driving around in a '94 1.2 Corsa for 2 years, getting over twice the horsepower with rear wheel drive feels incredible. I've only had one slightly moment thus far, going around a roundabout in the rain and giving it the boot in 3rd left me with a small amount of hair raised...

And he's called ALF!

OK, it's not identical to mine (mine is red, and has the alloys), but you get the idea. Immensely practical car, and, having the 1.9TD engine, decent MPG, too.

good point, How much space does your car have in the back?

Simply, if you need 4 seats (i.e have kids) you don't buy one.

For everybody else out there, there is just enough space for shopping/suitcases
