Ive got a 2007 350z, 313ps. I dont have any pics of my car on my work PC but this is more or less how it looks.

My cars in Gunmetal and I have different wheels but the kit is the same

Why on earth would anyone remove the badges from their car?

The RX-8 is decent looking but the complete lack of torque put me off these cars. Mazda really should have went down the FI route with this.

It isn't really a major problem if you use the gears and keep the revs high. Also because the rotary engine is smaller/lighter than an equivalent piston engine it gives it better wieght distrubution which means I don't have to scrub off as much speed going into a tight corner. I have yet to have an "oh crap, too fast!" feeling whilst throwing the rx8 into a corner. It just sticks, then sticks a bit more.

Saying that, I wouldn't say no to a blast in your 350z

Its good to hear you like the RX-8 it is making my decision easier! besides the RX-8 is unique in its class for being both sporty yet not impractical, 4 seats, 4 doors, decent(ish) boot space.

My only concerns are the cost of running and reliability issues i have read about. Still they are cheap fast and have nice specs and options.

Driving my Dads old car at the mo, 12 year old Audi A6 estate. Its a diesel as well so I get about a million miles to the gallon, only had to fuel up twice in 6 months.

A few slight niggles though, the driver door dosent open from the inside so I have to roll down the window to open the door, the internal roof panels wont stay on the roof, the glove box wont open, the headlights come on when I press the brake, the back wiper dosent work and it pulls to the right if you dont hold the steering wheel. Oh and it was leaking coolant a few weeks ago, had to get the pipe welded back together. Other than that Ive had no problems from it!

When I get a proper job after college Im hoping to get something newer, nothing fancy. A Golf or something predictable like that. But thats a good year away at least.

The bumper is aftermarket and therefore came with no badge, the Nissan "burger" badge that should be there is awful looking. http://tiny.cc/FRM3k.

I removed the recess where the badge should go to give the front end a smoother look.

I know what you mean, I used to have a T sport Celica. If kept in the power band it was pretty quick, like the rx8 all the power was delivered high up in the rev range. The only problem with these type of engines and power delivery is torque.

I appreciate that the Rx-8 is only a 1.3 and produces around 240ps but the engine only produces around 200NM of torque

Running costs are high if you constantly boot it, which is it is hard not to do. But if you drive like my missus it won't be too bad. Oil consumption isn't as bad as I had read on various forums. I have only had to put in 1/4 litre and that wasn't necessary, more to give the missus piece of mind and get her off my back

The only reliability issues I am aware of (engine rebuilds etc) are with American RX8s as they are specified with a different grade of oil for some reason. We havn't had any of the other issues raised such as engine flooding.

It is a great car and is a total head turner in white.

Exactly. In my opinion the car in the photo looks worse than a standard car you'd get from a showroom. There is a golden rule in car modification and it is that you NEVER touch the badges! Removing the badges makes the car look stupid and bare and it also indicates that you're not proud to be driving that brand.

Any chance we can see pictures of your 350z after work Darren?

I drive a Focus ST. It gets horrible MPG and gets through tyres a little quickly, but it's fun and sounds nice.
