I don't think you can champion punk ethos by mentioning Sex Pistols.

I don't take anyone seriously when they start talking about what punk is or isn't, apart from people who were actually there when it all happened.

What the strawberry float is Photek on about? He obviously doesn't even know who Blink 182 are, because when Corazon corrected him, he stated it was even worse.

Blink arn't manufactured or trying to appeal to anyone in particular. They made songs they thought were cool and loads of other people did too. And they had some strawberry floating awesome songs.

mrbrightside wrote:Dude Ranch will always be my favourite Blink album i have so many good memories associated with that record and Apple Shampoo is my favourite Blink song of all time. They had a lot of comedy elements to them Blink and it is a shame that they always get tarred with the "joke band" brush. While, their live shows, photo shoots and general behaviour was very childish the majority of their songs, probably 90% were pretty serious. Cheshire Cat is very jovial, but Buddha isn't really and neither is Enema or TOYPAJ, except for probably The Party Song, Happy Holidays, **** a Dog and Mother's Day.

Their self titled album was good, but it was very much the sound of a band trying a little bit too hard to be taken seriously. The songs all appeared to use the same chords and effects and they all appeared to be in the same key. I know the production of that album was very fraught and it took them ages to do which, contributed quite badly to the overall sound. I still liked it and thought Stockholm Syndrome was up there with their best ever work, but it was just a bit too serious and a little bit wanky.

Delighted to hear they are back though! It will be very intersting to see where they go from here and how the dynamics of the band change after the falling out, if at all.

This.

I will always have a soft spot for Blink 182, just because they were the band that got me into punk music back in the day (it's still my favourite genre of music).

Just like in the Football Thread Photek is talking a load of gooseberry fool again.

I'm sure their families will understand that Tom, Mark and Travis have died painfully because you don't like the music they played.

I don't believe you've ever even heard more than three of their songs.

He labels anyone in football who pisses him off as gooseberry fool, hopes they die etc too. Sometimes even his own team.

To be fair, Photek has spoke some really apt and accurate gooseberry fool in here.

Not sure about the football thread though...
