Quite possibly the most over rated band ever.

20 times, 20 times, Man United...

Yet your avatar is of someone who both idolised and was inspired by them, still overrated?

On the money, Cropolite, on the money. Harrison has long been my favourite Beatle. My 3 favourite Beatles songs are thus:

1. Long, Long, Long (White Album) (Harrison)
2. Here Comes The Sun (Abbey Road) (Harrison)
3. I Will (The White Album) (McCartney)

I've always considered McCartney the true songsmith of the group - a master of the simple melody - but Harrison's contributions are just marvellous - from 'Savoy Truffle' to 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'. Lennon? Great songwriter, no doubt about it, but he always irritated me, tbh.

Poor old George. I still miss him. I recommend the 'Concert for George' DVD. It's my favourite live concert DVD - everyone from Eric Clapton, Ringo and Paul, Jeff Lynne (ELO), Tom Petty and George's son Dhani all performing George's amazing back catalogue in tribute to a unique talent. Clapton's version of 'Beware of Darkness' is amazing. The whole thing is very moving and a genuine show of love for a much-missed and very gentle man.

IT! :fp: :fp:

I put 'Stand By Me' at first.

Anyway, The Beatles, they're good too. Almost as good as Oasis.

From the top of my head, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Come Together and The Ballad of John and Yoko would be my three choices. Partly to avoid picking the ones that always get picked, but mostly because they've all been my favourite Beatles song at some point

As for my favourite album? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I would have to say.... The Best of The Beatles.

Too difficult.

Surprised at the love for Let It Be; always thought that one was pretty horrid.

Right now:-

Stawberry Fields Forever (the composite version on the Love album)
Hey Bulldog
She's A Woman

Oh hell no, they're not a patch on The Beatles

They also covered I Am The Walrus, which was good, but not as good as Jim Carrey's version.

Well I can choose a whole one - Helter Skelter - beyond that I'll have to go away and think about it for another 24 hrs..., maybe Blackbird - christ - this is way too difficult.

I only listened to The Beatles for the first time like... last week. Only heard the White album but I strawberry floating love it, it's like a mix of Hendrix, Zeppelin and something i've not heard before. Amazing!

:? Are you sure you're listening to the right band? The White Album sounds hardly anything like either of those two. The closest thing The Beatles have come to sounding like Led Zeppelin is probably on Abbey Road. I can't think of anything they've done that sounds like Hendrix.

Great thread to read through but gooseberry fool this is hard. Um..

1. A day in the life
2. While my Guitar Gently Weeps
3. Something

But how can I forget Girl, Eleanor Rigby or In my life? Or Happiness is a warm gun? Or Rocky Raccoon? Or Hey Bulldog? Or..... gooseberry fool there are just too many good songs and a proper top three is impossible, it changes almost daily for me depending on my mood. If somebody said to me I could only ever listen to The Beatles music for the rest of my life I wouldn't be that bothered.

My girlfriend likes For no one best I think, or Strawberry Fields? I think hers changes often too.
